노트테이킹과 순차통역 품질간의 인과 관계

필자가 지난 4학기 동안 맡아온 석사과정 2학년 영한순차통역 강의의 경험을 토대로 한 본 연구는 연설문, 학생의 노트테이킹, 통역의 비교 분석을 통해 학생들이 겪는 어려움을 찾아냄으로써 통역 교육에 조금이나마 이바지하고자 하는 것을 목적으로 한다.위 비교 분석을 통해, 학생들이 생산 단계(production phase)에서 범하는 오류(error)가 상당 부분 수신 단계(reception phase)에서 그 원인을 찾을 수 있음을 보인다. 이처럼 생산 단계와 수신 단계 간의 인과 관계, 즉 노트테이킹과 순차통역 품질 간의 인과 관계를 규명하고 향후 그 이해를 보다 강화함으로써, 학생들은 자가 학습(self-learning)에 이은 지속적인 통역 능력 향상을 도모할 수 있고 교강사는 학생의 노트테이킹 과정과 그 결과를 검토함으로써 개별 학생의 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 가이드라인을 제시하여 궁극적으로 통역 교육의 질을 보다 증진시킬 수 있다고 주장한다.
