초록

This study aims to examine university integration as a means to enhance international competitiveness by exploring three distinct types of university partnerships—collaboration, alliance, and merger—each serving different strategic objectives in higher education. Each partnership type presents unique advantages and challenges, and the choice of partnership model depends on the strategic goals of the participating institutions. Collaboration provides flexibility and minimal risk, alliances allow institutions to maintain individuality while leveraging collective strength, and mergers offer substantial benefits in scale and resources while posing higher complexity and risk. Regardless of the partnership model, successful management relies heavily on effective communication, clear mutual objectives, and a strong commitment to collaborative success. Based on the researches, this study highlights the strategic advantages of different partnership models and underscores the need for further research on the long-term impact of these partnerships on academic performance, financial stability, and educational quality. Future studies should explore how partnerships evolve over time, conduct comparative analyses across different national and cultural contexts, and examine the role of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies in partnership success. Furthermore, cross-border collaboration and mergers can provide a strategic gateway for domestic universities to achieve global status, ultimately contributing to the overall improvement of higher education quality and international competitiveness.
