대학 체육교과에서 온라인 수업(online course)의 구조와 적용 가능성 탐색: 미국 대학 체육교과 사례를 중심으로

현대의 빠른 정보통신기술의 발전으로 인해 교육의 장에서도 다양한 기술발달의 적용이 적극 요구되고 있다. 인터넷 사용만 가능한 곳이라면 언제, 어디서나 개별적 학습을 수행할 수 있다는 교육적 효율성과 효과성 측면에서 최근 온라인 수업이 각광을 받고 있다. 본 연구는 온라인 수업의 다양한 이점과 효율성이 알려지면서 과연 체육교과에서도 이러한 온라인 수업이 가능한가를 탐색하고자 하였으며, 실제 온라인 수업을 통해서 체육교육이 어떻게 달성될 수 있는지에 대해 검토하고자 하였다. 해외의 발전적 온라인 교수ᆞ학습법을 벤치마킹한다는 측면에서 현재 미국 대학 체육교과에서개설/운영되고 있는 온라인 수업의 실제 사례를 알아보는 질적 연구방법의 사례연구법을 적용하였다. 당시 연구자는 미국 UNCG(University of North Carolina at Greensboro) 운동과학과(Department of exercise and sport science)의 온라인 수업을 직접 운영 및 관리하고 있었으며,연구자의 온라인 수업에 대한 다양한 경험과 수업자료들을 중심으로 연구 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 특히, 온라인 수업의 내용, 구조, 운영의 측면에서 실제 온라인 수업의 내용을 분석ᆞ정리하고자 하였으며, 이를 통해 온라인 환경에서 체육교육의 가능성을 이해하고자 하였다. 또한 ‘2007년 개정 체육과 교육과정’에서 밝히는 다양한 교과관련 내용들이 온라인 체육수업을 통해 어떤형태로 성취 가능한지를 논의하였다.
Abstract
The development of ICT (Information Communication Technology) has challenged the educational system to use more technology in classroom teaching. Students are able to learn individually through online classes, whenever and wherever there is internet access. Online classes are valued for their positive benefits to the educational environment. This study investigated the structure of online courses and the possibility of online courses in the physical education curriculum. This study introduced the case of the use of online courses in a physical education curriculum at a university in the USA, and presented the possibility of physical education in an online environment. How the 2007 revision of the physical education curriculum in Korea could be applied in an online course is discussed.
