체육과 교육과정에 대한 초등교사의 관심 변화 과정 탐구

본 연구는 내러티브 탐구라는 질적 연구 방법을 통해 체육과교육과정을 적용하는 과정에서 나타나는 초등 교사의 관심사가 무엇인지를 밝히고 교사 관심의 변화 과정을 교사를 포함한 교육 요소들의 상호작용이라는 맥락 속에서 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 교육과정에 대한 관심 변화를 풀어낼 수 있는 연구 참여자 1명을 대상으로 2011년 2월부터 2012년 2월까지 내러티브 탐구 절차에 의해 연구를 실시하였다. 7회에 걸친 만남을 통해 주제와 관련된 경험에 대해 연구참여자와 이야기를 나누고 이를 녹취함으로써 현장 텍스트 자료를 수집하였으며, 연구참여자가 의미 있는 경험으로 제시한 수업일지, 에세이, 저널 등의 내용을 이야기의 모티브로 활용하였다. 이렇게 수집한 자료는 Spradly(1979)가 제시한 영역분석과 분류분석 방법으로 분석하였고, 분석한 자료를 전문가 토의 및 연구 참여자와 다시 이야기하기는 과정을 거쳐 연구 텍스트로 구성하였다. 연구 결과, 초등교사의 관심 변화 과정은 새로운 교육과정의 유입에 따른 권위의 박탈감으로 대변된 교육과정과 힘겨루기, 교육과정이 주는 유용성에 기인한 교육과정에 마음열기, 교육과정의 재평가와 그 과정에서 나타나는 자각적 반성을 보인 교육과정 다시보기, 새로운 신념체계가 갖는 권위의 발로로 형성된 교육과정 가치 나누기의 양상으로 나타났다. 이 때, 교육과정이 갖는 권위와 그 유용성, 그리고 초등학교 체육교육 문화가 각 변화의 주된 동기 요인으로 드러났다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore an elementary teacher’s concerns which were associated with the process of applying the physical education curriculum, and to understand the process of change and his concerns in the context of the interaction of its educational elements, including the teacher. A narrative inquiry was adopted for this study. The researchers conducted the narrative inquiry from February 2011 to February 2012 with a single participant who could inform them about his concerns regarding changes in the curriculum. Data were collected by interview and document collection. The meetings with the participant in order to collect the data occurred seven times, and all the conversations were recorded with the agreement of the participant. The data were analyzed by the domain analysis and the taxonomic analysis which Spradley (1979) presented, and the research text was constructed through peer briefing and re-conversation with the participant. As a result of this study, the elementary teacher’s concerns with the process of change in the curriculum showed the patterns that follow: power struggle, which shows the deprivation of authority resulting from the induction of new curriculum; having opened mind, which shows that he has concerns on the availability of new curriculum; reviewing curriculum, which shows the teacher’s self-reflection exposed in the process of re-evaluating the curriculum; and sharing the curriculum values, which shows the expression of authority due to a new belief system. Major factors which influenced the change in the teacher’s concerns were the authority and availability of the curriculum, and the culture of elementary physical education.
