교수학습 방법으로서의 놀이에 대한 유치원 교사와 초등학교 교사의 인식

초록

본 연구의 목적은 유치원 교사와 초등학교 교사의 교수학습 방법으로서의 놀이에 대한 인식을 살펴보는 것이다. 이 를 위해 유치원 교사 5인과 초등학교 교사 6인을 대상으로 개인면담을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유치 원 교사는 놀이를 일과 중 언제 어디서든 일어날 수 있는 일상적인 것으로 생각하였고, 어떤 결과를 위한 것이 아닌 과정 자 체가 의미 있는 활동이라고 인식하고 있었다. 또한 놀이는 유아들의 전인발달에 기반이 되고, 이러한 특성을 바탕으로 학습 의 시작점으로 기능한다고 인식하였다. 반면 초등학교 교사들은 놀이를 1-2학년 저학년의 초기 적응을 도와주는 활동으로 보 았고, 휴식의 기능을 한다고 보았다. 초등학교 교사들은 놀이의 중요성을 인식하고 학습의 마무리로 놀이를 활용하고 있었 으나 여전히 교실에서 놀이를 허용하고 실행하는 과정에 어려움을 느끼고 있었다. 본 연구는 유치원 교사와 초등학교 교사 의 놀이에 대한 인식을 비교하여 알아봄으로써 상호 기관 간의 교수학습 방법 측면에서의 연계성을 살펴보았다는 데에 의 의가 있다. 또한, 이를 바탕으로 앞으로의 교육과정 개정에서 놀이에 대한 충분한 공감이 바탕이 되어야 할 필요성을 제시 하고자 한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how kindergarten teachers and elementary school teachers perceive play as an instructional method. For this study, we conducted in-depth interviews with 5 kindergarten teachers and 6 elementary school teachers. The results of the study are as follows: Firstly, kindergarten teachers perceived play as ‘a normal routine’, ‘a process in itself’, ‘foundation of holistic development’ and ‘the beginning of learning’. Secondly, elementary school teacher perceived play as ‘having a linkage with kindergarten’, ‘an unfamiliar routine’, ‘rest’, and ‘a tool of learning’. In this study elementary school teachers had difficulties in implementing play-centered curriculum in their integrated textbooks for 1st and 2nd graders. The significance of this study is that it explores the continuity of kindergarten and elementary school in terms of instructional methods. Informed by these findings, this study emphasizes the role of empathy in play and recommends this as an area that needs to be reflected into future revisions of the curriculum.
