Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the employment of female university graduates through the concept of institutional social capital, as it relates to university education. This study intends to analyze that the female university graduates' employment is influenced by discriminate approach of institutional social capital along 'hakbol' and 'sexism'. The concept of institutional social capital is the aggregate of the actual or potential resources which are linked to possession of a durable network of institutionalized relation and a structure of university. In other words, institutional social capital is a social resource that can be acquired only through an individual's attendance at a particular university. The results of this study are as follows. Above all, women spend more time than men in searching for jobs, but it is difficult for them to get employed because of an insufficient job search strategy and the absence of advisers. These problems occur because of inadequate institutional social capital. Second, female university graduates obtain institutional social capital less than male university graduates. Women, especially third-class university graduates experience difficulty obtaining it from social relation, various activity attendance and job search environment of university. The most prestigious universities are better able to help their graduates obtain jobs through such mechanism as providing introductions to employers or inviting employers who are eager to recruit graduates from best schools. Also universities help job search activity of men because their employment possibilities are higher than that of women. Unequality of institutional social capital occurs by gender, university hierarchy and sex discriminative environment of university.
