Purpose: A team is the basic structure in modern organizations and there is a call for research which considers both of the individual and group aspect in leadership affecting situation. It is worth examining the dual-level effect of transformational leadership (TFL) in regard to team performance. Also, it is not clarified whether and how differentiated leadership may dampen group effectiveness as a result of variations or divergence in group member experiences. In this circumstance, we try to clarify how the group-focused TFL can interact with individual-focused TFL at the group level. Composition/Logic: The first section is an introduction, which is providing information about the background and the purpose of this paper. The second section is explaining the theoretical background and the developing process of hypotheses. The third section is about the data collecting process, variables, and methods. In the fourth section, the results of the empirical analysis is presented. Finally, in the last section, the implications and limitations of this study is discussed. Findings: The empirical analysis was performed with a set of data, collected from 505 members of 101 team leaders in 23 Korean companies. The analysis shows that the member-member relationships (TMX) mediates the positive relationship between the collective TFL and team performance. The result indicates that the group-focused behaviors of the leader can have an impact on the TMX which is related to the team performance. However, the interaction between the group-focused TFL and individual-focused TFL was not statistically significant. Originality/Value: Even though there was a call for clarifying the dynamics between two different behavior components of TFL, many previous studies treated the TFL only as an overarching construct. Thus, the present study cas contribute to the expansion of TFL research by focusing on its behavioral components at group level. Also, by bringing individual perception concept to the leadership study, we can contribute to the study about the group-level phenomena which is related to leadership differentiation experiences.
