이 글은 유혈분쟁 경험과 상호 적대적 정체성 교육의 역사 속에서도 평화와화해를 위한 교육적 노력을 추진한 키프로스의 사례가 한국의 통일교육에 주는 함의를 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이 연구는 첫째, 키프로스가 분단되는 과정과 폐해를살펴보고, 둘째, 분쟁 이후 양 키프로스 교육이 추구해온 주요 방향과 역할을 분석해보며, 셋째, 키프로스의 평화를 위한 교육적 노력을 학교교육과 시민사회단체를 통한교육 및 협력 사례를 통해 탐색해 보고, 끝으로 이들의 교육적 노력이 갖는 긍정적및 부정적 측면과 함께 우리의 통일교육에 주는 함의를 살펴보았다. 그것은 탐구과정으로서 평화와 통일을 위한 사례의 측면과 남북한의 만남과 대화 노력 및 평화의장을 만드는 과정 측면에서 살펴보았다.
Abstract
This paper sought to consider the implications of Cyprus's case of promoting educational efforts for peace and reconciliation in the history of bloody dispute experience and mutual hostile identity education. For this purpose, this study first examined the process of division of Cyprus and its harmful effects. Second, this paper analyzed the main directions and roles pursued by education in both Cyprus after the dispute. Third, this study looked at educational efforts to promote peace in Cyprus through examples of education and cooperation through school education and civil society organizations. Finally, this paper examines the positive and negative aspects of educational efforts in Cyprus, and considers the implications for our unification education. The implications of the Cyprus case were examined in terms of examples for peace and unification as an exploration process, and in terms of meeting, dialogue efforts, and creating a place of peace between North and South Korea
