Abstract
This study focuses on Min Hee-jin, a central figure in the most high-profile controversy of the South Korean popular music industry in 2024—the dispute between HYBE and ADOR. From her early career as a visual director at SM Entertainment to her appointment as CEO of ADOR, Min has established a distinctive trajectory marked by both creative innovation and institutional conflict. Public discourse surrounding the conflict reveals divergent interpretations of her role and leadership. Through a structural analysis of the multidimensional tensions that surround Min Hee-jin, this paper explores her significance within the broader industrial and sociocultural framework. It applies theoretical frameworks including Goffman’s dramaturgical model, the exploration–exploitation dichotomy, and gender double-bind theory to examine her career, creative strategies, contested identity, and challenges. Ultimately, this study offers insights into the structural dynamics of the Korean music industry and discusses future directions for sustainable development in popular music industry.
