Abstract
Manghyangseong is a transcription of 162 songs with various genres and lyrics, including patriotic songs sung by independence activist Lee Kuk-young (1920-1955) around 1940 while working in the provisional government in China, as well as popular songs, folk songs, liberation army songs, independence army songs, Mugunghwa songs, and anti-Japanese songs. This paper selected songs that reveal the contents of ruin, longing for the country, love for the country, independence, independence struggle, and anti-Japanese, and analyzed 54 songs in terms of lyrics and 35 tunes to examine their characteristics. The lyrics of the first volume of the song contain words such as Korea, Taegukgi, Gwangbok, Taoism, Liberation Army, soldiers, enemies, revolution, etc., and it can be seen that they were produced after 1919. The lyrics of the second volume contain words that symbolize country and people, such as Mugunghwa, Samcheonri, Nation, Nation, Nation, Korean Peninsula, Freedom, Dangun, Fatherland, Geumsugangsan, Daehan, Ancestor, Nation, History, and Mansae, and songs produced before the 1920s. As a result of the analysis in terms of lyrics, it expresses the mission of the Liberation Army to achieve independence and the activities of the Korean Liberation Army, the content that reflects the lifestyle of the provisional government, the praise of the country, the long history, and the pride of excellent culture. However, progressive ideas such as equality and human rights are not seen. As a result of analyzing 35 songs selected from Volume 2, which contains tune instructions and sheet music, 13 creative songs are used in terms of sheet music, and the remaining 22 are borrowed from foreign countries. Looking at the trend of sheet music, 16 bars are the most, and the coordinates are mainly C, G, and F. The beat has the most 4/4 beats. It seems to have selected the song that can be sung most comfortably. The score was notated as a number score, and it was equipped with a coordinate, a time table, a bar, an octave, and articulation, and except for a few errors, the music level of the scribe Lee Kuk-young was quite high.
