우선 지금까지의 연구분야에서는 적석목곽묘에 대한 지금까지의 성과를 다루고 이에 뒤이어서 기원, 상한문제, 왕릉비정 등을 일별하였다.다음으로 연구상의 문제점에 대해서는 발굴보고서를 내지 않는 등의 잘못에 대해 언급하였다. 그 다음으로 신라적석목곽묘의 연구에서는 편년이나 형식분류에 의존하기보다는 생할사의 복원을 위한 노력이 필요함을 강조하였다.
Abstract
In this paper, I briefly overviewed Korean archaeologists’ research tendency on the stone compiled wooden chamber tombs excavated in the Kyongju basin. I pointed out that too much emphasis has been placed on the historical background, origin, chronology, and determination of the owner of the unique burial programs of Silla. For a better understanding of the history of Silla, however, I postulated that archaeologists need to pay more attention to the reconstruction of life-ways of the past Silla people than merely publishing excavation site report and spending too much time on ‘type’ of features and artifacts related with the burial systems.
