It isn’t proper that an alternation is diachronic just as it happened in word inside or it is irregular. On this thesis, I explained that some alternations happening in word inside is synchronic. Phenomena that I discussed is fortition of word-initial, lenition, contraction happening in word inside. To say that an alternation in word inside is diachronic, it must be proved that X’ of X → X’ is listed in lexicon. But if a speaker uses X and X’ mutually in the same context, then it is difficult to suppose that X’ is listed in lexicon. This means that an alternation of X → X’ is synchronic. So it isn’t proper to say an alternation is diachronic as just reason that it is happened in word inside. Also a preposition that all synchronic alternation is regular isn’t true, so it isn’t proper to determine synchronicity or diachronicity by the presence or absence of regularity.
