Abstract

Public design guidelines developed since 2008 have been performed actively in Local Governments across the country. However, a large number of design guidelines are following the Structures and proposed methods of the 'Design Seoul Guidelines'. Because it was first time. Selected basic direction and principles are presented as the first in the 'Design Seoul Guidelines'. In detail, the Placeness applies, divided by the functional characteristics are presented. Design guidelines of Busan developed in 2009 is composed of other ways. It is primarily the extent of space are separated. Secondarily, strategies guidelines and common guidelines for each target are presented within these scope. This configuration is a system that considered not only the features of the place but also the conditions of the terrain and surrounding landscape. Developed in 2010, the 'Jeollanamdo Public design guidelines' are similar to those of the 'Design Seoul Guidelines' base system. However public space, special facilities, and local resources for the specific use is way more. And the 'Pohangsi Public design guidelines developed in 2011, has a checklist. The checklist reflects the guidelines were being properly evaluate. Compared to the initial model all Local government's results are not constructive. But existing only in some such way that's insufficient to complement the various attempts that can be seen. Public design guidelines for future progress in other areas thus maintaining improving execution considering the practical aspects of managerial approaches should be considered.
