신문 텍스트의 한국어 교재 담론 분석－1950년대 이후의 기사를 중심으로－
A Study of Discourses on Korean Textbook-Based on the Newspaper Articles from the 1950s-

This study focused on the qualitative analysis of the discourses on Korean language textbook. Of newspaper articles on Korean language education, the ones which have not received due attention or that can be reinterpreted are chosen for the purpose. Preliminary examination of the news articles data revealed that Korean language education and the discourses around it can be broken down to three stages：the beginning, the leap and the steady growth. First in the beginning stage, it is notable that the scarcity of Korean as a foreign language (KFL) textbooks, as well as the importance of them has been the major issue. Second, in the leaping stage the number of learners and institutes of Korean rose sharply, both domestically and internationally. The necessity of researches on KFL textbooks is brought up, resulting in government support and the consequent development of the textbooks. Lastly in the steady growth stage, specialized and detailed demands for qualitative changes of the textbooks appeared. Accordingly, the general perception of the KFL textbooks matured, as the extralinguistic aspects came into the spotlight. The raise of ethical awareness such as that the texts should not be politically biased, and that the specific circumstances of the target learners (e.g. immigrant workers) should be considered is found in this stage. From the beginning stage where KFL textbooks could hardly be found, discourses on KFL textbooks has been consistently formed and diversified. This study captures the significant moments of our society regarding the Korean language education through newspaper articles, and points out how the discourses reflected the society in each stage.
