This paper aims to reveal that hyponymy can be a mechanism for word–formation focused on the so–called ‘tautological words’ and ‘contradictory words’. This means that the results of being superordinate are neither ‘tautological words’ nor ‘contradictory words’. The ‘tautological words’ related to being superordinate correspond to the preceding element ‘tautological words’. They are again divided into morphological ‘tautological words’ and semantic ‘tautological words’. The most significant finding is that being superordinate is usually satisfied when ‘contradictory words’ exist.
Abstract
