국어 교육에서의 어원 활용 양상 연구: 2015 개정 초･중･고 국어과 교과서를 중심으로
A Study on the Aspects of Using Etymology in Korean Language Education: Focusing on Korean Language Textbooks for Elementary, Middle, and High Schools According to the 2015 Revised Curriculum

The etymology is a repository of the Korean language in that; it reflects not only various grammatical information but also the culture and way of thinking of our people. It also contains fundamental aspects of the Korean language. However, despite its educational significance, influence, and utility, etymology is not highly utilized in Korean language education. Therefore, this study collected 155 cases of using etymology for Korean language education by examining 124 Korean language textbooks in elementary, middle, and high schools, and examined and organized the specific aspects of how etymology is used by school level, unit composition, and content area in Korean language textbooks. In addition, based on the surveyed content, the study attempts to promote the use of etymology in Korean language education by suggesting some points that need to be supplemented. Given that research on the educational value of etymology in Korean has only recently begun, the results of this study are expected to serve as a foundation for enhancing the educational value of etymology in Korean.
