Abstract
The fan was a local specialty representing Joseon. Throughout the Joseon Dynasty, fans were given as gifts to Chinese envoys, Joseon envoys took them as gifts whenever they went to China, or the king gave them as Dano gifts. In order to supply this, the artisan system was reorganized from the early Joseon Dynasty. The craftsmen of the central government office were the original captain and the concubine captain, and the Seonjajang made fans in Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do in the region. However, two wars destroyed the system. Accordingly, in the late Joseon Dynasty, a temporary organization (dogam) was installed to hold royal rituals, and craftsmen were mobilized to produce fans. Their social situation and role changed with the times. In the 17th century, it was produced by craftsmen living in Seoul, or it was a special product of Jeolla-do or Gyeongsang-do, and it was a debt to the king. In the 18th century, royal fans were exclusive to the government office and were drafted into the book for more than 10 years to produce fans. It caused social controversy by forcing the heads of Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do to collect debts. From the end of the 18th century to the 19th century, the craftsmen who made royal fans with the development of the commodity economy were those who produced private products. At that time, the fans for calligraphy and painting by scholars also increased, and it was made into a product and changed to a method of selling it in the market.
