『偐紫田舎源氏』における作者の言辞

本論文は、柳亭種彦の『偐紫田舎源氏』に見られる挿絵、時間の流れ、考証に関わる作者の言辞を通して、本作の創作技法について考察したものである。 まず、種彦は挿絵を省略した場合、言辞を通してその旨を読者に伝えていた。種彦が本文に書かれている内容のうち、挿絵にする場面を選択する基準は主人公である光氏に関わる話が中心であり、より劇的な描写をするため、本文には登場しない人物まで描き加える場合もあった。次に、種彦は過去を追想することにより、時間の流れに変化が生じた場合、それが何年前の、あるいは何編と同時間帯の出来事であるかを言辞に記していた。これを通して、種彦が本作品の創作に当たり、時間の流れを如何に重要に考えていたのかを窺うことができた。最後に、近世初中期の風俗や物事などに高い関心を持っていた種彦は、本作の本文と挿絵に近世初中期の言葉と遊びを取り入れ、言辞にそれが古風であることであることを記している。これは数十年にかけて積み重ねてきた種彦の考証の成果が合巻の創作に利用された一例であると言える。 種彦がこのような言辞を作中の随所に書き記したのは、読者の鑑賞を助けるための工夫である。物語の筋を伝えるための本文と挿絵とは別に、言辞という表現媒体を通して、種彦は読者に語り掛け続けていたのである。
Abstract
This paper study on technique of creation through writer’s comments about illustration, flow of time, research on Nisemurasaki inakagenji of Ryutei Tanehiko. First, When dropping illustration, Tanehiko delivered it the reader through comments. The criteria to select the scenes of illustrations is the story about the main character Mitsuuji, there were also sometimes adding even the person who do not appear in the text for dramatic description. Second, When back to the past, Tanehiko wrote comments about things when or where. Through this, we could understand importance of flow of time for creation. Third, Tanehiko inserted expressions and plays of the early modern times the text of the work, and then wrote that it is the old custom. It means he used research ability when creating works. Tanehiko’s comments were for helping readers work appreciation, one of the medium for communication with readers. It is technique of creation can not be seen in contemporary work inserting a lot of comments on Gokan the novel popular.
