우키요에(浮世絵)로 재탄생된 근세후기 소설 —『니세무라사키 이나카겐지(偐紫田舎源氏)』와 「소노스가타 유카리노우쓰시에(其姿紫の写絵)」를 중심으로—

Abstract

Ryutei Tanehiko’s masterpieces “Nisemurasaki Inaka Genji” was read by the most common people of the early modern period. The popularity of “Inaka Genji” was continued even after the Tanehiko’s death. The Ukiyo-e works were also produced based on the illustrations of “Inaka Genji”. This kind of Ukiyo-e work is referred to the 19th century Genji-e. This paper seeks to how to use the illustrations of “Inaka Genji” on the “Sonosugata Yukarino utsushi-e”’s creation. As a result, I could reveal the following three characteristics. First of all, “Sonosugata Yukarino utsushi-e” has been confirmed that in some cases elements of the image of “The Tale of Genji”. Secondly, “Sonosugata Yukarino utsushi-e” was produced based on the text of “Inaka Genji”. Thirdly, the illustrations of “Inaka Genji” were combined into a sheet of Ukiyoe. The reason of why such creative techniques were available was because of Utagawa Kunisada who was the artist of the “Sonosugata Yukarino utsushi-e” was also the person who was in charge of the illustration of “Inaka Genji”.
