「사혼례」에서 醴禮 의식의 曆象的 모형 해석과 시뮬레이션 검토

Abstract

We study the six proceedings of 「shìhūnlǐ(士昏禮)」 to examine if its ceremonies can be interpreted in connection with the motions of celestial bodies. Our previous study has shown that setting of spoon prescribed in Yebin(醴賓) and Yebu(醴婦)rituals refer to the particular times of the day, namely dawn, dusk, and midnight. The present study extends our work by focusing on the motion of the constellation Big Dipper in the context of its annual motion, and tries to explain the directions of setting of spoon, and also the direction and location of the ceremonial performer that are prescribed differently between Yebin(醴賓) and Yebu(醴婦)rituals. The connection between ritual ceremonies and the annual and diural motions of celestial bodies has been studied in two ways. First, we make literature studies of 『書經』「堯典」and 金文豹’s 「柶圖說」. The latter provides a visualization of the connection between the annual solar motion and the length of day at two equinoxes and solstices. Second, the annual and diurnal motions of celestial bodies are simualted and compared with the traditional wedding ceremony to check if it is possible to find celestial configurations consistent with the ritual setting and procedure. In this simulation we adopt the epoch of early Western Zhou Dynasty when the ancient ‘order of clan rules’ has been set up, and the observational location of 鎬京, which was the capital of early Western Zhou Dynasty. It is proposed through the simulation that the prisciption of setting the spoon by assistor in Yebin(醴賓) is the result of adopting the celestial configuration of Big Dipper in late May whereas the prescription of setting it by assistor in Yebu(醴婦) is that in around November 4 and that by daughter-in-law in around November 7.
