초록

The purpose of this study was to estimate the economic impact of convention and exhibition industry using a regional input-output (I-O) model on COEX(Seoul) convention and exhibition centers. The convention and exhibition-related sectors were derived from transactions tables developed by the Bank of Korea (2011). The multipliers were estimated in terms of output, income, value added, indirect tax, import, and employment. Expenditures of attendees, buyers, convention and exhibition organizers, and exhibitors were estimated through surveys. The results of this study indicate that in 2011, COEX(Seoul) convention and exhibition centers generated the following: output impact (1,862 billion KRW), income impact (438 billion KRW), value-added impact (849 billion KRW), indirect tax impact (21 billion KRW), import impact (85 billion KRW), as well as paid and unpaid full-time jobs (22,609).

Abstract
