본 연구는 국내 제조업 기업을 대상으로 노동조합의 존재 유무가 기업혁신 활동에 영향을 줄 수 있는지를 검토하는데 목적이 있다. 특히 연구개발 활동이 상대적으로 왕성한 수도권 지역의 제조업체를 대상으로 노동조합과 기술혁신과의 연관성을 파악하고자 하였다. 노동조합과 기술혁신에 대한 국내 연구는 자료 등의 한계로 매우 제한적으로만 존재하므로 본 연구는 동 분야 연구 다양성 확보 측면에서 기여할 수 있다. 연구개발 투자성향이 높은 수도권 기업들의 경우 노동조합이 있는 기업들은 비노조기업에 비해 연구개발 투자는 물론 특허 등 연구개발 성과가 부진 할 수 있다는 실증적 근거를 발견하였다. 이러한 분석 결과는 향후 노사관계 설정에 있어 보다 협력적인 관계가 구축되어야 하며 생산성 향상을 위한 연구개발 투자에 협력할 수 있도록 지원하는 것이 중요하다는 점을 시사한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine whether the presence or absence of a trade union can influence corporate innovation activities in domestic manufacturing firms. Especially, we tried to find out the relation between the labor union and the innovation of the manufacturing industry in the capital area where the R&D activities are relatively active. As domestic researches related to labor unions and technological innovation are rare because of the limitation of data, this study can contribute to the diverse analysis of relationships with labor union and firm's innovation. We find the evidence that In the case of the manufacturing enterprises in the capital area where the R&D investment tendency is relatively high, the R&D investment as well as the R&D performance in the firms with labor union could be sluggish. These results suggest that it is important to establish a more cooperative relationship in the future labor relations setting, and to support cooperation in research and development investment for productivity improvement.
