동남아시아 체제전환국에서 외국인직접투자의 사회적 효과 분석

본 연구에서는 동남아시아 체제전환 4개국(베트남, 라오스, 캄보디아, 미얀마)의 1995~2017년 연간 패널자료를 사용하여 외국인직접투자(FDI)와 경제성장 간의 관계를 실증분석하였다. 패널데이터 분석기법인 고정효과모형(Fixed-effect Model)을 통하여 실증분석을 실시한 결과 동남아시아 체제전환 4개국에서 외국인직접투자 유입이 경제성장에 공헌하는 인과관계를 발견할 수 있었다. 인적자본과 금융발전, 국제무역 등 외국인직접투자 이외에 경제성장에 긍정적 영향을 주는 기타 요인들도 특정될 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 체제전환국의 경제성장을 위하여 외국인직접투자 및 금융시장 발전 관련 정책들을 시행하는데 중요한 정책적 함의를 제공하고 있다. 또한, 북한과 사회․문화 등 여러 가지 측면에서 유사성이 높고 현재까지도 체제전환이 진행 중인 동남아시아 체제전환국을 분석대상으로 하여 향후 북한의 개혁․개방시 유의미한 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
In this study, the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth was analyzed using the panel data of 1995~2017 of four countries (Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar) As a result of the empirical analysis through the fixed effect model of the panel data analyzer, it was found that the influx of foreign direct investment(FDI) contributed to the economic growth in the four countries with the transition to the Southeast Asian regime. In addition to FDI, such as human capital, financial development, and international trade, other factors that have a positive impact on economic growth could also be identified. These results provide important policy implications for the implementation of foreign direct investment and financial market development policies for the economic growth of the transition countries. In addition, it is expected that North Korea will provide meaningful implications for reform and opening up in the future by analyzing Southeast Asian countries that have similarities in various aspects such as social, cultural and other aspects of North Korea.
