여성정치지도자의 등장 요인에 대한 국가 간 비교

본 연구는 여성 정치지도자의 등장을 설명하는 요인들이 무엇인지 검토하였다. 여성 정치지도자로는 의회 내 여성의원과 내각 내 여성각료에 초점을 맞추었으며 분석대상은 28개의 민주주의 국가들이다. 분석방법으로는 정치제도적, 문화적, 경제적인 측면의 다양한 요인들에 대한 데이터를 수집하여 경험적 분석을 시도하였다. 분석결과에 따르면 여성 정치지도자의 등장 배경으로 정치제도적인 요인과 경제적인 요인이 영향력을 행사하는 반면 문화적인 요인들을 별다른 역할을 하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 정치제도적인 요인 중에 특히 유효정당수 변수가 의회 및 내각에서 여성 정치리더십을 등장시키는데 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This paper examines the factors that explain the cause of emergence of women political leaders, focusing on female members of the congress and the cabinet. Employing regression analysis, this paper investigates 28 democracies. According to the results of data analysis, political and economic factors have an impact on the emergence of women political leaders, while cultural factors do not have. In particular, this paper finds that effective number of political parties has a strong and consistent effect on women political representation.
