Abstract

May 68 is a french movement initiated by the students, which paralyzes the whole country and ends only after two months. It refuses and attacks all forms of oppressive authority of the society. Rejecting also any structuration, it seems therefore a mass movement disoriented and disorganized. Many people notice the destructive and revolutionary characteristics of the language of May 68. It reveals some significant differences from other social movement's language. It criticizes all oppression as political and economic system, religious discourse on many issues and other authoritarian values systems of the society. May 68 contests through different linguistic forms of transgression. The language of May 68 tries to destroy the society and create the new one not only by its content but also by its form playing on the sound and meaning : chiasmus, antithesis, paradox, parody, varied transgressive and destructive creations. With these playful shapes, the revolutionary language of May 68 is not like the others. Expression coincide with content by playful forms. And the language is the most effective means for the revolution. Their new language let us figure out a new world which they wanted to build and the new way of revolt.
