초록
It is assumed that literature-based teaching has not been practiced widely because Korean teachers depend heavily on textbooks. Some teachers may not feel confident when using children's literature because they are not trained how to use literature instead of textbooks, or they may not feel supported from their administrators when making a transition to literature-based teaching. This study discusses the theoretical background of literature-based teaching and introduces an example of literature-based teaching in a Korean second grade classroom. It is expected that Korean teachers would make a transition to teaching with children's literature with administrators' supports and their efforts to make it happen.
Abstract
It is assumed that literature-based teaching has not been practiced widely because Korean teachers depend heavily on textbooks. Some teachers may not feel confident when using children's literature because they are not trained how to use literature instead of textbooks, or they may not feel supported from their administrators when making a transition to literature-based teaching. This study discusses the theoretical background of literature-based teaching and introduces an example of literature-based teaching in a Korean second grade classroom. It is expected that Korean teachers would make a transition to teaching with children's literature with administrators' supports and their efforts to make it happen.
