본 논문에서는 한국 사회에서 기술과 몸이 만나서 변화되고 있는 다양한 현상과 의미들을 파악하고, 그 안에서 다양한 형태로 나타나고 있는 소외를 극복할 수 있는 몸이론의 가능성에 대해 고찰하였다. 이러한 과정에서 기술과 인간관계에서 체현의 가장 직접적인 대상인 몸을 중심으로 현상들을 살펴봄으로써 기존에 도출되지 않았던 영역들에 대한 의미화를 시도하였다. 분석을 위해 돈 아이디가 기술과 인간의 관계를 정의하는 이론인, 체현적인 관계와 해석적인 관계, 배경적인 관계의 입장에서 한국 사회의 기술화된 측면들을 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 기술화된 몸의 변화들을 파악하고 한국 사회에서 몸의 소외가 나타나는 지점을 다음과 같이 분리하여 분석하였다. 첫 번째는 이간이 기계화될 때 나타나는 소외의 양상이고, 두 번째는 기계가 인간화되면서 나타나는 소외의 양상들이라고 할 수 있다. 이들 관계에서 나타나는 소외는 근본적으로 인간중심주의의 휴머니즘을 근간으로 하여 위계를 나누면서 나타나는 인식의 문제를 근간으로 하고 있음을 파악할 수 있었다. 그러기 때문에 소외 없는 몸이론의 가능성을 타진하기 위해서는 우리의 몸과 기술의 결합이 일상화되어가고 있음을 자각해야 한다. 아울러 시몽동이 언급했던 기술 본질에 대한 성찰과 더불어 인간과 기계, 기계와 인간이 존재론적으로 상호의존적일 수밖에 없다는 사실을 자각해야 한다. 이러한 인식의 저변이 확대될 때 우리는 소외없는 몸이론에 대한 다양한 가능성들을 발전시킬 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This article aims to establish a theory of body in technology that can explain the various human-machine relations and its alienation in Korean society. In accordance with this purpose, this paper consists of two chapters. The first chapter analyzes how the body is combined with technology and alienated through it in Korean society. In the second chapter, this paper proposes a theory of body in technology that could overcome alienation. In order to clarify various phenomena and meanings of human-technology relations that are changing in Korean society, we have applied Don Ihde’s philosophy of technology, especially three types of human-machine relation as embodiment, hermeneutic, and backgroud relations. It is important here to pay attention where the machine is placed within the correlation of what is experienced with how it is experienced. In terms with these three types of correlation, all phenomenological appearances of human-technology relations are separated and analyzed in the aspect of alienation that occurs when humans are mechanized, and in the aspect of alienation that appears when a machine is humanized. This paper examines finally how problems of alienation could be overcome with Don Ihde’s and Gilbert Simondon’s concept of technology. These philosophers rejects in common the concept of technology which is anthropocentric and techno-centered. According to Ihde, it is important to draw attention that any use of technology brings with it a simultaneous amplification of certain possibilities of experience while at the same time reducing others. According to Simondon, it is the ontological nature of technological objects that concretize between the artificial and the natural by the never-ending process of individuation. This paper discusses that the reflection on the nature of technology mentioned by Ihde and Simongdong could not fully solve the problem of alienation in Korean society.
