국내외 아도르노 해석자들 사이에서는 ‘비동일자’ 개념의 외연과 내포를 둘러싼 논쟁이 거듭되어 왔는데, 이는 주로 비동일자 개념이 하나의 “실재적 존재자”로서 어떤 것을 구체적으로 지시하는 것인지, 아니면 일종의 “한계 개념”으로서, 구성적 주체가 완결된 실체가 아니라 그 외부, 객체와의 매개 속에서만 존립할 수 있다는 사실을 환기하는 부정적인 관계성의 개념인지를 놓고 벌어졌다. 이러한 논의를 통해 본 논문은 아도르노의 비동일자 개념은 동일성 원칙에 대한 비판, 그리고 차이에 대한 철학적 감수성의 확장이라는 면에서 포스트모더니즘과 유사성을 갖지만, 동시에 동일성과 비동일성/비동일자 사이의 변증법적 매개관계에 주목함으로써 관념론과 주체철학을 ‘내재적’으로 비판하려는 시도로서, 포스트모더니즘적인 ‘차이의 존재론’과 구분되는 것으로 이해될 수 있다는 점이 제시될 것이다. 결국 본 연구는 동일성과 비동일성에 대한 변증법 철학/포스트모더니즘의 논쟁지점에서 제3의 길을 모색하는 독자적 시도를 전개한다.
Abstract
The debates on the extension and connotation of the notion of the ‘non-identical’ have continued among domestic and international Adorno scholars. These debates have been mostly about whether this notion concretely refers to something as a ‘real being’ or it is a concept of negative relationship, which as a ‘limit-concept’ points that the constitutive subject is not a completed substance but it can only persist in the mediation with its outside, its object. In these debates, it is noticed that Adorno’s notion of the non-identification focuses on the dialectical relation of mediation, and thus it cannot be defined as the same concept with the postmodern one of the difference. In this point, this article seeks to approach Adorno’s concept of the non-identical via the third way out of the debates between the philosophy of the dialectical and the philosophy of postmodernism.
