초록
This paper mainly investigates the relationship among energy consumption, industrial development and environmental pollution of China’s 36 industries from 2001 to 2011. We find that energy consumption has a positive influence upon environmental pollution emissions, especially in waste gases. Through generalized least squares, we found that both waste water and waste gases have an inverted-U shape with industrial development. We also found that solid waste has an inverted-U shape relationship with industrial development by using dummy variable least squares. Environmental pollution emissions have some heterogeneity in different industries and years. According to Granger causality analysis, waste gas and solid pollutants have unidirectional causality influence on energy consumption. Thus, it is imperative to improve energy efficiency and to explore and use more renewable energy. We conclude that China needs to develop green innovation in order to decrease environmental pollution.
