충청권 고령친화산업의 특성 및 성장요인 분석

전 세계적으로 급속히 진행되는 고령화 문제는 우리나라에서 가장 심각하다. 고령화는 경제적으로 다양한 영향을 미치면서 고령친화산업의 급격한 성장을 초래하고 있다. 우리나라의 고령친화산업은 2010년 이후 9.1%의 연평균성장률을 기록하며 제조업 보다 4배 빠르게 성장하고 있다. 정부도 고령친화산업을 육성하기 위한 법제정 등 다양한 노력을 추진하고 있다. 하지만, 고령친화산업 기업은 영세하며 혁신을 위한 연구개발 투자 등이 부족한 상황이다. 본 연구는 전국 평균 대비 빠르게 성장하고 있는 충청권의 고령친화산업 특성과 성장요인을 분석하여 정책적 시사점을 도출하는 것이 목적이다. 충청권의 고령친화산업은 매출액, 사업체 수와 종사자 수 등에서 전국 평균 보다 높은 성장률을 기록했다. 실증분석 결과 노동이 고령친화산업의 급격한 성장에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 고용이 둔화되는 타 산업에 비해 고령친화산업은 높은 고용창출효과를 나타내고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 연구개발도 고령친화산업의 성장에 긍정적으로 영향을 미치고 있다. 하지만, 연구개발의 효과는 노동에 비해 매우 낮게 나타났는데, 아직까지 기업 규모가 영세하며 연구개발투자 등 혁신을 위한 노력이 미흡한 것으로 분석되었다. 새로운 성장동력으로 급부상하고 있는 고령친화산업의 고부가가치를 위해 산업구조 고도화 정책이 필요함을 시사하고 있다.
Abstract
While the rate of population ageing is rising fast in the world, Korean population ageing has been very serious. Population ageing has caused the dramatic growth of the new age-friendly industries as it has made a variety of influences on the economy. The annual growth rate of age-friendly industries has been 9.1% since 2010, which is 4 times higher than the growth rate of manufacturing industriy in Korea. The Korean government has promoted the various policies to support age-friendly industries. However, the size of firm is small and age-friendly industries face a shortage of innovation activities of firms in Korea. This study aims at providing the policy suggestions of advancing sturucture of age-friendly industires by analysing the pheonomana and growth factors of age-friendly industries in Chungcheong region. The age-friendly industries in Chungcheong region have grown faster than average of Korean age-friendly industries. The empirical results show that labor has the biggest impact on grwoth of age-friendly industries. R&D has a positive relationship with growth of age-friendly industries. However, the magnitude of R&D impact on growth of age-friendly industries is much smaller than labor impact. This implies that the policy of innovating age-friendly industries by providing R&D programs and developing human resources.
