유가 철학의 욕망론(欲望論)과 신경증적 거식증

거식증을 신체 이미지의 왜곡과 같은 환각을 동반하는 정신병적 거식증으로 볼 때,우리는 거울에 비친 신체 이미지 왜곡과 비만에 대한 공포 없는 동양의 비정형적 거식증에 직면하게 된다. 이를 유발하는 원인을 효제(孝弟)의 윤리와 삼강오륜(三綱五倫)을 중심으로 한 강력한 아버지의 기능과 종속적인 어머니의 자리로 이루어진 유교의 가부장적 가족의 구조에서 찾을 수 있다. 이와 함께 생자와 대 잇기를 통해 효를실천할 수 있는 유교적 여성의 신체 이미지가 비만에 대한 공포 없는 동양의 비정형적 거식증을 유발하는 것으로 보인다. 그 다음, 우리는 동서양의 거식증에 공통적으로 나타나는 금욕주의와 중성적인 신체의 추구라는 증상을 분석하기 위하여 거식증을 신경증적 거식증으로 규정하였다. 서양의 거식증 환자의 중성적인 신체에 대한 추구는 식욕에 사로잡혀 있는 여성에서벗어나서 정신을 상징하는 남성이 되고 싶은 무의식적 욕망을 표현하고 있다. 또한 유가 철학의 욕망론에서는 남성을 욕망의 주체로 보고, 여성을 남성의 욕망의 대상으로 취급한다. 이 속에서 동양의 비정형적 거식증에 나타나는 금욕주의와중성적인 신체를 추구하는 증상은 여성이 남성에 가까운 몸을 만들어 남성처럼 욕망을 가진 주체인 동시에 욕망을 극복한 도덕적 주체로 서고 싶은 무의식적 열망을 표현하고 있다. 마지막으로 서구의 ‘성스러운 거식증’은 상징계가 허용한 쾌락에 만족하지 않고 죽음 충동에 따라 실재계에 이끌리는 주이상스를 추구하기 때문에, 음식을 거부하여신체적 쇠약과 죽음에까지 이른다. 또한 유가 철학의 성인론은 누구나 성인이 될 수 있다는 전제에서 성인이 되기 위한 수신과 ‘치국평천하(治國平天下)’로의 초월을 강조하지만, 여성에게는 이러한 기회를 부여하지 않는다. 이 속에서 동양의 거식증 환자의 극도의 신체적 쇠약이나 죽음까지도 두려워하지 않는 증상은 유교 사회에서 여성이 자신에게 허락되지 않은 국가와 세계를 향한 초월을 감행하기 위하여 사회적 죽음을 불사하는 것으로 해석할수 있다.
Abstract
If the anorexia is defined as the psychotic anorexia, we are confronted with an atypical anorexia in East Asia without the distorted body image and fear of obesity. We found that the powerful paternal function, consisting of the weak mother's place in the Confucian patriarchal family causes the atypical anorexia in the East. In addition, the Confucian woman's body image which can give birth to a boy, leads to the atypical anorexia in the East. Then, we defined the anorexia as the Anorexia Nervosa in order to analyse the symptoms that are common to anorexia in the East as well as in the West, that is, the pursuit of asceticism and a neutral body. The anorexic's pursuit of neutral body in the West express the unconscious desire to move away from the woman,obsessed with appetite, to become the man who is the symbol of spirit. The Confucian theory of desire regard the man as the subject of desire, while the woman are treated as man's object of desire. The symptoms of atypical anorexia in the East express the unconscious desire that the woman, making close to the man's body, stands as a moral subject like the man. Finally, if 'holy anorexia' in the West is not satisfied with pleasure in the symbolic order in the pursuit of 'jouissance' by means of excessive physical pain and the impulse of death, it rejects the food entirely and lead to death. The theory of a saint in Confucian philosophy emphasizes the moral cultivation on the premise that everyone can be a saint. But it does not give the opportunity for woman to become a saint. The eastern anorexic's symptom which is not afraid of death, means the resistance to the social death preventing the woman from the transcendence toward the country and the world.
