여자청소년의 섭식장애증상과 사회문화적 요인의 관계

초록

본 연구에서는 여자청소년의 섭식장애증상과 사회문화적 변인들(성역할 정체성, 대중매체의 영향력, 사회적 체격불안)의 관계를 분석하고, 이 변인들이 섭식장애증상을 설명하는 정도를 탐색하였다. 중고교 여학생 653명을 대상으로 연구한 결과는 다음과 같다. 성역할 정체성 유형에 따라 섭식장애증상은 유의한 차이를 보였다. 성역할 정체성(여성성과 남성성), 대중매체의 영향력, 사회적 체격불안, 섭식장애증상 각각의 상관관계는 모두 유의하였다. 섭식장애증상은 대중매체의 영향력, 사회적 체격불안에 의해 유의하게 설명되었다. 이러한 결과는 섭식장애증상과 관련한 연구에서 사회문화적 변화를 반영하는 요인들을 다른 요인들과 함께 고려할 필요성이 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구의 의의와 제한점을 논하고 후속연구를 위한 제안을 하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive study was to analyze the relationships between eating disorder symptoms(EDS: EDS-Anorexic, EDS-Bulimic and EDS-Total) and sociocultural factors, and to identify the factors affecting EDS in adolescent women. The sociocultural factors were sex role identity(SRI), influence of mass media(IMM) and social physique anxiety(SPA). The sample consisted of 653 middle and high school girls in the 2nd grade. The data was collected through self-reported questionnaires. There were the significant relationships between SRI (feminity and masculinity), IMM, SPA and EDS(p<.05, r= .115∼.509) but the relationship between feminity and ESD-Bulimic. 38.3% of the variance in ESD-Total was explained significantly(p<.05) by IMM(25.5%) and SPA(12.8%). 31.0% was of the variance in EDS-Anorexic was explained by IMM(22.3%), SPA(8.3%), and SRI-Androgynous(0.5%). SPA(18.4%), IMM(8.6%), Age(0.6%) and Ideal Figure(0.6%) explained 28.2% of the variance in EDS-Bulimic. These results suggest that it is necessary to include the sociocultural factors that reflect the changes of modern society as well as biological and psychological ones in future research into eating disorders.
