Abstract

The subject of this article is headwords that include Sino-Korean words in the Pyojungugeodaesajeon(the Standard Korean Dictionary) and a sogeum(exceptional Sino- Korean) with ▽ marked in the original language information. I tried to classify and examine the cause of the formation of sogeum(exceptional Sino-Korean) contained in these Sino-Korean words, and to examine the problem of the phonological layer of Chinese characters reflected by each sogeum(exceptional Sino-Korean) in relation to the timing of the formation of Sino-Korean words, considering language negotiation. The online version of the Standard Korean Dictionary, which is currently being serviced, contains headwords containing about 813 Sino-Korean words including sogeum(exceptional Sino-Korean). Sogeum(exceptional Sino-Korean) seen here can be divided into things that reflect the sound of other phonological information among the various phonological information of a single letter, inferred under the influence of by other harmonic characters with sound parts due to the characteristics of the Chinese characters that form the majority, reflect other phonological information of the same Chinese character although the shape of the letter is different, influenced by the biceps reading method, or those that are still difficult to trace the cause. Some of the Sino-Korean formed by these factors seem to reflect earlier phonological layer than Ancient Chinese layer, while others appear to reflect old and Modern Chinese layer after Ancient Chinese layer. A more rational in terpretation seems to be possible if they go beyond focusing only on sogeum(exceptional Sino-Korean) and look at it in relation to when Sino-Korean words including sogeum(exceptional Sino-Korean) were formed or introduced. From this point of view, some of the Sino-Korean words that entered the Korean language after the enlightenment period through negotiations with the Japanese language appear to have been formed by the influence of the Japanese Chinese character reading method. In this regard, it was confirmed that observing the stratification problem of Sino-Korean words in close connection with the formation and history of Sino-Korean words enables rich discussion.
