본 연구는 베트남의 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 매개(mediation) 활동을 수업에 적용하고, 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 학습자의 경험을 심층적으로 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 11주간 구어 중심의 매개 활동을 실시한 후, 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 실시하여 그 경험을 질적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 학습자들은 초기에는 매개 활동을 낯설고 어렵게 느꼈으나, 점차 언어 능력의 향상뿐만 아니라 인턴십 등 실제 환경에서의 활용 가능성까지 체감하게 된 것으로 나타났다. 특히 활동을 되돌아보는 과정에서 학습자들은 자신의 변화를 자각하고 매개 활동에 대해 긍정적으로 평가하였다. 본 연구는 매개 활동의 교육적 효과를 학습자의 경험을 중심으로 조명하였다는 점에서 의의가 있으며, 향후 한국어교육에서 매개 활동을 보다 효과적으로 설계하고 적용하기 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study explores the experiences of Vietnamese learners of Korean as a Foreign Language (KFL) through the implementation of mediation activities in the classroom. Learners participated in oral mediation tasks over 11 weeks. Following the conclusion of the semester, researchers conducted a focus group interview to explore their experiences. The interview data were qualitatively analyzed to uncover learners’ perceptions and reflections on the activities. The findings show that learners initially perceived mediation tasks as unfamiliar and challenging. However, they gradually recognized improvements in their language proficiency and the practical applicability of mediation in real-life contexts, such as internships. Through retrospective reflection, learners became more aware of their own development and expressed positive evaluations of the mediation experience. This study is important because it highlights the educational value of mediation activities from the learners’ perspective, and it provides foundational insights for the design and implementation of mediation-oriented instruction in Korean language education.
