Abstract
The incidence of viral infections was monitored in purple passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) cultivated in Republic of Korea in 2020. The six virus types were detected by polymerase chain reaction: cucumber mosaic virus, east asia passiflora virus, euphorbia leaf curl virus, papaya leaf curl guangdong virus, passionfruit woodiness virus, and tomato yellow leaf curl virus. The rate of papaya leaf curl guangdong virus infection was the highest (68.3%), followed by cucumber mosaic virus (58.3%), euphorbia leaf curl virus (48.3%), east asia passiflora virus (33.3%), passionfruit woodiness virus (8.3%), and tomato yellow leaf curl virus (0%). Single viral infection accounted for 25%; multiple infection did for 75%. This study provides information about the incidence of viral infection on purple passion fruit in Republic of Korea.
