인공지능(Artificial Intelligence: AI) 기술의 발전으로 인해 언어 교육 분야에서도 AI 기반 언어 학습에 대한 관심이 점점 증가하고 있다. 그러나 관련 기술의 발전에도 불구하고 여전히 AI를 수업에 어떻게 적용할지에 대한 실제적인 방안은 확립되지 않고 있으며 이에 대한 효과성 검증도 충분하지 않은 실정이다. 이 논문에서는 국내 제 2외국어로서 스페인어 학습에서 ChatGPT와 같은 AI의 활용 방안에 대해 고찰하고자 한다. 구체적으로, ChatGPT를 통한 스페인어 구문 학습에 관한 몇 가지 가정적 상황들을 제시하고 ChatGPT가 생성한 답변에 대해 비판적으로 검토하고자 한다. 또한, ChatGPT의 활용에 따른 장단점 및 한계에 대해 논의하고, 스페인어 구문 학습에서 ChatGPT는 기존의 교실수업에서는 여러 여건상 실행하기 힘든 학습활동들을 보완할 수 있는 보조적 수단으로 활용될 수 있음을 제안하고자 한다. 즉, ChatGPT를 활용한 디지털 수업에서는 교수자의 적절한 개입을 통해 ChatGPT가 생성하는 정보의 정확성을 판별하고 데이터의 신뢰성을 검증하는데 있어 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다.
Abstract
With the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, there is a growing interest in AI-based language learning in the field of language education. However, despite the advancement of related technologies, practical measures on how to apply AI to actual classes are still not established, and the effectiveness is not sufficiently verified. This paper aims to study the application of AI such as ChatGPT in learning Spanish as a second language in Korea. Specifically, I present several hypothetical situations for learning syntactic structures of Spanish through ChatGPT and critically examine the answers generated by ChatGPT. In addition, I discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of using ChatGPT, and suggest that ChatGPT can be used as a supplementary tool for learning syntactic structures of Spanish to complement traditional classroom instruction that may not be feasible in many situations. This means that in a digital classroom utilizing ChatGPT, appropriate intervention by the instructor can play an important role in determining the accuracy of the information generated by ChatGPT and verifying the reliability of the data.
