이 연구에서는 화학교육 홈페이지 화면을 기호학적 관점에서 분석하고, 학습자의 웹 페이지 이해 과정을 면담을 통해 심층적으로 알아보았다. 기호학적 분석을 위해 퍼스가 제안한 기호, 해석체, 대상을 기초로 분석틀을 개발하였다. 이 분석틀에 근거해 화면 내용의 이해 과정을 구조화 과정과 번역 과정으로 나누어 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 학습자가 웹 페이지의 목표 개념을 이해하는 과정은 여러 번의 구조화 과정과 번역 과정을 통해 일어남을 알 수 있었다. 면담 과정에서 웹 페이지 개발자가 의도한 목표 개념이 학습자의 잘못된 해석이나 사전 지식에 따라 변형되어 해석될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 그리고 학습자가 웹 페이지를 보며 목표 개념을 구성하는 데 다른 사람들과 상호작용 하는 것이 효과적이었다. 이에 대한 교육적 함의를 논하였다
Abstract
Exploring the Processes of Understanding Web Page by Semiotic Approach: Focused on the Chemed4U Homepage In this study, we analyzed the content in the Chemed4U hompage on the view of semiotics, and investigated in depth the understanding processes of learners through the interview. For the semiotic analysis, we developed a semiotic model based on the sign, interpretant, and object suggested by Pierce. On the basis of the model, we analyzed the processes of understanding web content by dividing into structuring processes and translating processes. The results revealed that learners understood the target concept of the content through a number of structuring processes and translating processes. We also found that the target concept intended by the web page developer could be interpreted differently by learners' transformation due to mis-interpretation or their pre-concept. In addition, it was more effective that learners interacted with other learners when they constructed the target concept of web page content. Educational implications are discussed.
