본 연구는 학교교육의 기본 단위라 할 수 있는 학급을 경영하는데 있어서 유용한 자료를 얻기 위하여 중학생을 대상으로 그들이 선호하는 교사상을 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 학급은 담임교사와 학생의 상호작용에 의해 운영되는 조직이기 때문에 학생들의 선호도를 정확히 진단하는 것은 성공적인 학급경영의 첩경이 될 것이다. 본 연구는 학급담임교사의 역할을 크게 학급경영면, 학습지도면, 생활지도면의 3가지 영역으로 보고 ○○○도에 거주하는 중학생 544명을 대상으로 각 영역별로 총 13문항으로 된 질문지를 통해 선호도를 파악하고자 하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 학급경영의 측면에서는 민주적인 학급을 위해 노력해 주는 교사를 선호하였으며 학급성원 누구나가 원활한 의사소통을 통해 공동의 목표를 향해 노력할 것을 기대하고 있었다. 학습지도의 측면에서는 자기 주도적인 학습시간을 최대한 배려해 주되 개별지도를 통해 모르는 문제를 수시로 지도해주기를 원하였고, 부진한 교과목에 대해서는 별도의 과정을 통해 지도해 주기를 원하는 것으로 나타났다. 생활지도의 측면에서는 이성문제의 경우 교사 자신의 경험담을 결부지어서 적극적으로 상담해 주기를 바라고 있었고, 학년별로 이성문제 지도에 대한 선호 방식이 다르게 나타났다.
Abstract
Homeroom Tachers' Role Preferred by Middle School Students The purpose of this study is to examine what type of classroom teacher role is preferred by middle school students in a bid to raise the efficiency of classroom management. The subjects in this study were 279 boys and 265 girls from middle school in ○○○do on whom a survey was conducted with a 13-item questionnaire that covered their preferences matters of concern need for classroom management, academic education and guidance. The findings of this study are as follows: The teacher in charge should listen to the students and manage the class democratically, while keeping the intimacy with the students. Regarding academic education teachers who encouraged and motivated them to study spontaneously and gave detailed advice about academic deficiencies after final exams were favored. Regarding guidance teachers who had frequent talks with students to help them to wake up to and solve their own problems are favored, and in case any problems took place, those who gave separate guidance to students causing the problems were preferred. In conclusion, majority of the students liked their classroom teachers as they were warm-hearted, caring, broad-minded and interesting.
