중학교 상담교사의 역할에 대한 요구 분석

이 연구는 향후 중학교에 배치될 상담교사의 역할에 대한 요구를 탐색하기 위해 전국 8개 지역의 학생, 교사, 학부모, 학교행정가를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문지는 상담교사의 역할에 대한 연구를 토대로 총 33개의 문항, 4가지 종류(학생, 교사, 학부모, 학교행정가용)로 제작되었다. 상담교사의 역할에 대한 요인분석을 실시한 결과, 총 5가지 요인, 즉 학생상담, 자문, 조정, 대집단 생활지도, 학교상담 프로그램이 산출되었다. 이 요인들은 각 집단별로 요인구조가 안정적인 것으로 나타났다. 요인들 중 공통적으로 학생상담에 대한 요구가 가장 높았는데 특히 부적응 학생 상담에 대한 요구가 가장 높게 나타났다. 학생과 학부모는 두 번째로 대집단 생활지도에 대한 요구도가 높은 반면에 교사는 조정과 자문이, 학교행정가는 학교상담 프로그램과 자문에 대한 요구도가 상대적으로 높았다. 추출된 전체 요인과 문항에서 학생은 학부모․교사․행정가 집단보다 요구도가 유의하게 낮게 나타나 학생들의 학교상담에 대한 필요성 인식이 낮음을 보여주었다. 이 연구는 중학교 상담교사들의 역할을 규정하고 그 역할들에 어느 정도의 시간을 할애하는 것이 효율적일 것인가에 대한 지침을 만드는 준거의 기초 자료가 될 것이며 이와 관련된 제언을 제시하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to examine the needs to the role of school counselors who would be placed in Korean middle schools in the near future. A questionnaire was administered to 824 middle school students, 305 middle school teachers, 495 parents, and 75 school administrators in 8 regions. On the basis of previous studies on the roles of the school counselor the questionnaire consists of 33 items and in 4 different forms. A factor analysis of the role of the school counselor identified 5 factors - student counseling, consultation, coordination, large group guidance (LGG), and school counseling program (SCP). As result, the needs to student counseling was the highest factor among those factors. Especially, the needs to the counseling for student's maladjustment was the most desperate. The student and parent groups chose LGG as the second highest factor, the teacher coordination and consultation, and the school administrator SCP and coordination. The entire factors and items showed that the needs of the students was significantly lower than that of the parents, teachers, and school administrators, indicating that the students still had low perceptions to school counseling. There was a significant difference in the levels of the needs to the subfactors of school counseling among the students, teachers, parents, and school administrators.
