Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among school violence victimization, depression, friendships, and cyber delinquency of adolescents. Specifically, we tested the moderated mediating effect of friendships through depression on the relationship between school violence victimization and cyber delinquency. The main findings were as follows. First, depression were found to have a partially mediating effect on the relationship between school violence victimization and cyber delinquency. Second, the significant moderation effect of friendships on the relationship between depression and cyber delinquency was found. Third, friendships also moderated the effect of school violence victimization on cyber delinquency through depression. This study provides an empirical basis for educational and therapeutic use in the education and counseling scenes by examining comprehensively the risk factors and the protection factors that lead to cyber delinquency of adolescents.
