퇴계 경사상의 교육적 의의

퇴계사상의 핵심은 경사상이다. 퇴계의 경사상은 儒學의 理想인 聖人 혹은 君子가 되기 위하여 자신에 稟賦된 자연의 理法을 人欲에 끌리지 않고 구현되도록 하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 퇴계가 주장한 구체적인 방법과 言行錄에 기록된 그의 실생활이 어떤 교육적인 가치와 한계점을 갖는 지 논의한 결과, 자연적 품성을 따르는 피교육자의 자율성이 고도로 존중되며, 행동하기 전이나 행동할 때 삼가고 조심하는 신중한 인간을 지향한다. 그러나 이는 복잡하고 다난한 현대 생활에서 냉정한 의사결정과 정신적 안정에 유익한 것으로 판단되나 사회경제적인 그리고 정신문화의 근본적 구조 변화에 따른 변용과 재해석이 절실히 요구된다고 판단된다.
Abstract
This thesis is intended to understand the educational aspects of Gyeong-thought and their limitations. Toegye considered the goal of Gyeong-thought is to be Gun- ja who is an ideal person at that time. Also, He thought one should suppress his greed and live with heaven law by Gyeong. I think that educatee's autonomy is highly admitted by this thought and there is potentialities to lead out good behavior with guiding thinking ways to conform to the natural law, by Gyeong-training. Especially I think it is not only considered a very useful method to become stabilized people's mental state in these days which is extremely nervous and aimless, but also judged there is a fruitful effect to develop cool-headed judgement and decision-making abilities which are demanded to an individual and leaders. However this thought is needed to be adapted or to be recreated with the change of times to overcome the severe changes especially in the field of everyday life, economic activities and basic social & mental structures.
