우연에 의한 행운의 발견을 만드는 능력을 세렌디퍼티라 하고, 이를 세렌디퍼티, 유사 세렌디퍼티, 이중적 세렌디퍼티의 세 유형으로 구분하였다. 창의성의 과정에서 세렌디퍼티의 역할을 문제 발견, 문제 해결, 해결방안 실행 단계로 나누어서 고찰하고, 창의성과 세렌디퍼티의 관계를 논의하였다. 또한 우연적 발견 능력에 요구되는 특성을 호기심, 지각력, 통찰력으로 제시하고, 고등학교 화학 실험 수업에서 세렌디퍼티를 신장하는 방안을 발견 학습 모형에 근거하여 제안하였다.
Abstract
Strategies for Boosting Serendipity in Chemistry Education Serendipity is the faculty of making fortunate and unexpected discoveries by accident. It includes pure serendipity, pseudo-serendipity, and dual serendipity. In this study, three examples on serendipity in problem finding, problem solving, and acceptance finding were described. Relations between creativity and serendipity were suggested. The study suggested that serendipity be constructed by curiosity, perception, and insight. Strategies for boosting serendipity in chemistry education are proposed as follows: First, students can have prepared mind preliminary laboratory report. Second, students use laboratory notes that improve observation and perception. Third, students discover the general principle by observing concreat instances. Forth, providing various materials will increase students' curiosity.
