사범대학 예비중등교사가 인식하는 교사 진로장벽

초록

매년 중등교사 임용 규모가 감소하는 가운데, 사범대학 재학생이나 일반대학 교직 전공생의 교직진출에 대한 고민은 커지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 사범대학 예비중등교사가 인식하는 교사 진로장벽을 실증적으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 4년제 사범대학 재학생 12명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 면담자료 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예비중등교사가 경험하는 진로장벽은 선행연구에서 제시한 다양한 진로장벽을 대부분 포함하고 있었다. 둘째, 예비중등교사의 진로장벽 중 개인적 차원의 진로장벽은 두려움과 자신감 부족이었다. 셋째, 교육이나 정보 제공의 문제점은 예비중등교사가 직면하는 진로장벽의 다수를 점하였다. 넷째, 경제적 측면에서 인터넷 강의에 대한 부담이 큰 것으로 나타났고, 이를 진로장벽으로까지 연결하고 있었다. 다섯째, 거시적인 사회적 배경 등의 측면에서는 학력차별, 교사 임용 규모 축소, 교권추락, 낮은 임금 등이 진로장벽으로 나타났다. 여섯째, 예비중등교사의 진로장벽은 서로 상호작용하는 특성을 갖고 있었으며, 사회인지진로이론을 지지하는 층위로 구분되었다. 이상의 분석결과를 토대로 결론과 시사점을 제시하였다.

Abstract

As the number of teachers appointed after passing the secondary teacher appointment examination is decreasing, the students at College of Education in South Korea are getting more concerned about becoming a teacher. Thus, the purpose of the current study was to identify the career barriers perceived by pre-service secondary teachers. To that end, we conducted an in-depth interview with 12 students at College of Education in South Korea. The results were as follows: first, the career barriers perceived by the pre-service secondary teachers corresponded in large part to those from the existing studies; second, the career barriers at individual level were worry and lack of self-confidence; third, problems with curriculum and lack of information were perceived as the major career barriers; forth, costly internet lectures preparing the students for the appointment examination were perceived as a career barrier; fifth, at the macroscopic level, discrimination based on educational background, the decreasing number of teachers being appointed, plunge of teacher's authority, and low wages were career barriers; and sixth, the career barriers were intertwined each other to form the three layers in social cognitive career theory. Based on the results, we provided implications and conclusion.
