중등 과학교사의 핵심역량 보유 수준에 대한 인식 분석

본 연구는 변화하는 미래사회 학교 현장에서 직무를 수행하기 위해 중등 과학교사에게 요구되는 핵심역량에 대해 과학교사 스스로가 인식하고 있는 핵심역량에 대한 보유 수준을 비교 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 선행연구를 통해 도출된 중등과학교사 핵심역량을 정량화할 수 있는 Likert 척도 설문을 제작하여 수도권 소재 중등학교 과학교사 120명을 대상으로 설문을 진행하였다. 설문 응답 결과를 SPSS 25.0 프로그램을 이용하여 교사 경력별, 학교급별, 성별로 분석하였으며 다음과 같은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 전체 과학교사의 핵심역량 보유 수준 분석의 경우, 설문 결과를 바탕으로 과학교사의 핵심역량에 중에서 ‘교직윤리 및 인성 역량’, ‘소통 및 협업 역량’, ‘자기개발 역량’, ‘학습공동체 활동 역량’, ‘과학 탐구 소양 역량’ 순으로 보유도가 높다고 인식하고 있었으며, ‘네트워크 구축 역량’, ‘진로지도 역량’, ‘심리상담 역량’, ‘통합과학 교육 지도 역량’, ‘정보화 활용 역량’에 대해서는 보유도가 낮다고 인식하고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 경력별로 분석한 결과 대부분 유사한 결과가 도출되었지만, 저경력 교사에게는‘학교 행정업무 수행 역량’이, 고경력 교사에게는 ‘정보화 활용 역량’에 대한 보유 정도가 낮게 분석되었다. 학교급별로 분석한 결과 중학교와 고등학교 두 집단 간 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 성별로 분석한 결과 ‘과학 실험탐구 지도 역량’과 ‘통합과학 교육 지도 역량’이 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 여교사가 남교사보다 높다고 인식하고 있었다. 이 연구를 통해 도출된 과학교사 핵심역량에 대한 보유 인식을 바탕으로 향후 보유 인식과 중요도를 비교 분석하여 과학교사의 핵심역량 강화를 위한 교육 요구 우선순위를 결정하여 교사 재교육을 위한 교육과정 개정에 대한 후속 연구를 제언하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the level of retention of core competencies and to identify the core competencies secondary school science teachers currently require in order to perform their duties. To this end, a Likert scale questionnaire was created and administered to quantify the core competencies of secondary science teachers derived through prior research, with 120 science teachers at secondary schools located in a metropolitan area responding to the questionnaire. The following results were obtained by categorizing and analyzing the survey responses by teacher experience, school level, and gender using the SPSS 25.0 program. Based on the results of the survey, science teachers reported a higher degree of core competencies in ‘teaching ethics and personality competency’, ‘communication and collaboration competency’, ‘self-development competency’, ‘learning community activity competency’, and ‘ science inquiry literacy competency’. On the other hand, science teachers reported a lower degree of core competencies in ‘network construction competency’, career guidance competency’, psychological counseling competency’, ‘integrated science education competency’, and ‘information utilization competency’. When analysing the results by career, most of the results were similar with the exception of the degree of retention of 'school administration performance competency' for low-experience teachers and 'information utilization competency' for high-experience teachers was low. Likewise, when analyzing the results by school level there was no statistically significant difference between middle school and high school science teachers. When analyzing the results by gender, it was recognized that female teachers were higher than male teachers at a statistically significant level. Based on the retention perception of the core competencies of science teachers this study concludes that there is a need to further educate science teacher to continue to strengthen their core competencies. A follow-up study on the revision of the curriculum for teacher retraining was suggested.
