본 연구의 목적은 자연물을 활용한 환경교육 활동이 유아의 환경친화적 태도와 놀이성에 미치는 영향을 검증하는 것이다. 연구대상은 S시의 2곳에 재원 중인 5세 유아 36명(실험집단 18명, 통제집단 18명)이다. 환경친화적 태도 평정은 Musser & Diamond(1999)가 제작한 CATES-PV(The Children’s Attitudes Toward the Environment Scale-Preschool ver.)를 허윤정(2001)이 수정․번안한 도구를 사용하였으며, 놀이성 평정은 Barnett(1990)가 제작한Children’s Playfulness Scale(CPS)을 유애열(1994)이 번안하고, 배미경(2015)이 요인분석을 통해 수정∙보완한 도구를 사용하였다. 실험집단에서는 자연물을 활용한 환경교육 활동이, 통제집단에서는 개정 누리과정 기반의 생활주제 관련 교육활동이 각각 24회기로 실행되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS win 26.0을 사용하여 공변량분석(ANCOVA)으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 자연물을 활용한 환경교육 활동은 유아의 환경친화적 태도와 놀이성에서 두 집단 간에유의한 차이를 보였으며, 실험집단이 더 높게 나타났다. 이는 자연물을 활용한 환경교육 활동이 유아의 환경친화적태도와 놀이성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤음을 의미한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of environmental education activities utilizing natural materials on young children's pro-environmental attitudes and playfulness. The study participants consisted of 36 five-year-old children enrolled in two institutions located in S City (18 in the experimental group and 18 in the control group). The assessment of children's eco-friendly attitudes was conducted using the CATES-PV (The Children’s Attitudes Toward the Environment Scale-Preschool Version) developed by Musser & Diamond (1999) and adapted by Heo (2001). The evaluation of playfulness was conducted using the Children’s Playfulness Scale (CPS) developed by Barnett (1990), adapted by Yoo (1994), and further revised through factor analysis by Bae (2015). The experimental group participated in environmental education activities utilizing natural materials, while the control group engaged in 24 sessions of life-themed educational activities based on the revised Nuri Curriculum. The collected data were analyzed using ANCOVA (Analysis of Covariance) with SPSS Win 26.0. The results revealed significant differences between the two groups in both eco-friendly attitudes and playfulness, with the experimental group showing higher levels. These findings indicate that environmental education activities utilizing natural materials have a positive impact on young children's eco-friendly attitudes and playfulness.
