본 논문은 기업 자료를 바탕으로 국내 정보통신부문에서의 외국인 투자의 생산성 파급효과에 대해 분석하고 있다. 정보통신산업을 세부 5개 산업으로 구분하여 각 세부 산업에 진출한 외국계 기업의 물적 자본의 합을 외국인 직접 투자로부터 파급되는 외국지식자본의 크기에 대한 대용 변수로 삼았다. 이렇게 구축된 자료를 바탕으로 외국인 직접 투자의 국내 기업에 대한 생산성 파급효과를 추정한 결과 전체 IT산업은 물론 통신서비스 산업을 제외한 나머지 정보통신 기기 및 부품 등의 산업에 있어서 이러한 외국지식자본으로부터의 유의미한 생산성 파급효과를 확인 할 수 있었다.
Abstract
Using firm level data, this paper investigates the knowledge spillover effects from foreign direct investments in the Korean IT sector. By aggregating physical capital stocks of foreign subsidiaries, proxies are constructed for foreign knowledge stocks that are spilled from foreign direct investments in the Korean IT sector. Estimation results show that knowledge spillover effects on domestic firms from foreign direct investments are significant in the IT sector as a whole as well as in all the IT subsectors except the telecommunications service sector.
