본 논문은 기업의 환경경영활동과 지속가능한 발전과의 상관관계를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 기업의 환경경영활동을 지속가능성 측면에서 평가할 수 있도록 경제, 환경, 그리고 사회적 지표를 선정하여 평가모형(SDEM)을 구축하였다. 평가모형은 델-파이, 계층적 분석방법(AHP)을 활용하여 지료의 선정과 가중치를 결정하였다. 그리고 우리나라 기업 58개사를 대상으로 실증분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과에 따르면 환경경영 도입 단계가 높을수록, 기업규모가 클수록, 환경경영을 실천한지 오래될수록 그리고 공기업일수록 지속가능한 발전에 미친 성과가 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 경제적 성과와 환경적 성과와의 상관관계가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 공기업이 민간기업보다 보다 높은 성과를 보이는 것으로 분석되었다.
Abstract
This paper conducted a relationship analysis on the environmental management activities (EMA) and sustainable development (SD) of firms. To do this, a Sustainable Development Evaluation Model (SDEM) was established using economic, environmental, and social indicators. Del-Phi and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) methods were adopted to select and weigh indicators, and an empirical study was conducted with the participation of 58 Korean companies. The results show that the higher the EMA level, the more performance there was for SD. The results correlated strongly with economic and environmental performance, and showed that long-term implementation of EMA by big companies was better than the short-term implementation of EMA by small and medium sized companies. In addition, the results show that the public sector performs better than private sector.
