본 연구에서는 유아 어머니와 초등학교 3학년 어머니의 유아교육기관 선택시 중요하게 고려하는 요인에서 차이가 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 아울러 유아교육기관을 선택했을 때 중시했던 요인, 그리고 다시 선택한다면 중요하게 고려할 요인과 함께 자녀를 위해 유아교육기관을 선택하는 과정에서 경험했던 어려움과 개선점에 대한 의견을 알아보고자 하였다. 한 중소도시에 소재한 유아교육기관 5곳과 초등학교 2곳의 3학년에 재학 중인 자녀를 둔 어머니들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 조사 연구의 결과, 유아교육기관 고려도에 있어서는 교육비 부담액, 현장학습·견학 프로그램, 문자지도에서 유의미한 집단간 차이가 있었다. 자녀의 유아교육기관 선택 시 가장 중시하는 기준으로 유아 어머니와 초등학교 어머니 모두 교육과정 및 교육방법으로 나타났으며 어려웠던 점으로 유아교육기관에 대한 정보 부족이 가장 두드러졌다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine if differences exist between young children's and 3rd graders' mothers in considering importance of various components of early childhood programs through a questionnaire. It also aims to analyzing what factors were considered most important when choosing an early childhood program for their child and if given a change to select one again, as well as understanding difficulties and needs in their selection process. A questionnaire was distributed to mothers in 5 early childhood programs and those of 3rd graders in 2 elementary schools, all located in a small-sized city of Gyeongsangnam-do Province. The results of this study showed that there were statistically significant differences between the two groups of mothers in terms of consideration of educational cost, field trips, and literacy aspects of early childhood programs. Both groups viewed curriculum and instructional method as most important as their selection criterion of an early childhood program, and the lack of information on each early childhood program as most challenging in the selection process.
