어머니의 우울증상이 영유아와의 상호작용행동에 미치는 영향: 마음챙김과 외로움의 매개효과 검증

본 연구는 어머니의 우울증상, 마음챙김, 외로움, 영유아와의 상호작용행동 간의 관계를 살펴보며, 어머니의 우울증상이 영유아와의 상호작용행동에 미치는 영향에서 마음챙김과 외로움의 다중매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울에 소재한 어린이집에 다니는 영유아의 어머니를 대상으로 질문지조사를 수행하였고, 상관, 회귀분석, 부트스트래핑 방법을 통하여 174명의 자료를 분석하였다. 주요연구결과를 살펴보면, 어머니의 우울증상은 외로움과 정적 상관을 보인 반면, 마음챙김과 영유아와의 상호작용과 부적 상관을 나타내었다. 어머니의 우울증상은 영유아와의 상호작용에 부적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 어머니의 마음챙김은 어머니의 우울증상이 전반적 상호작용행동에 미치는 영향을 부분매개하였으나 외로움의 매개효과는 유의하지 않았다. 이러한 결과를 통하여 어머니의 우울증상은 영유아와의 전반적 상호작용행동에 직접적 영향 뿐 아니라, 마음챙김과 같은 심리적 특성을 통하여 간접적 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구결과는 영유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 정신건강의 중요성을 강조하는 한편, 마음챙김과 같은 어머니의 심리적 특성은 부모상담 및 부모교육 프로그램의 구성요소로 사용될 수 있으며, 어머니의 우울증상이 자녀에게 미치는 역기능적인 결과를 완화하는데 유용하게 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the association of maternal depressive symptoms and interactive behaviors with young children. Furthermore, this study aimed to test the mediating effects of mindfulness and loneliness on the relationship between maternal depressive symptoms and interactive behaviors with young children. One-hundred seventy-four mothers with young children aged 1 through 5 years who were attending child care centers in Seoul, Korea completed questionnaires. Correlation, regression, and bootstrapping method were applied to analyze the data. The results showed maternal depressive symptoms negatively correlated with mindfulness and maternal interactive behaviors and positively correlated with loneliness. Moreover, results indicated that whereas the mediating effect of loneliness was not significant, the relationship between maternal depressive symptoms and interactive behavior with young children was partially mediated by mindfulness. The results revealed that maternal depressive symptoms influenced maternal interactive behavior directly and indirectly through mindfulness. These findings highlight the importance of maternal mental health and suggest to utilize personal variables including mindfulness as targets in parent intervention and education program in order to alleviate malfunctional outcomes in their children.
