유아 어머니의 우울이 양육태도에 미치는 영향: 완벽주의의 조절효과

초록

본 연구에서는 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 주요한 심리적 적응의 변인인 우울과 자녀 양육태도와의 관계에서 완벽주의가 조절변인으로서의 역할을 하는지에 대해 구체적으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울과 경기도 지역을 비롯한 각 지방 유아교육기관에 재원하고 있는 만 3세∼5세 유아를 자녀로 둔 어머니 464명을 대상으로 이루어졌다. 본 연구의 주요결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자율적 양육태도에 대한 우울과 완벽주의의 하위변인들 간의 상호작용효과는 총 4개가 의미 있게 나타났다. 그 중 어머니의 우울감으로 인한 부정적인 태도에 대해 실수에 대한 염려, 부모의 비난이 부정적 태도의 증가에 따라 다른 양상을 보였으며, 어머니의 우울감으로 인한 수행상의 어려움에 대해서는 완벽주의 중 실수에 대한 염려와 조직화 등이 조절적 기능을 하고 상호작용 효과를 나타내었다. 둘째, 어머니의 애정적 양육행동에 대한 우울감과 완벽주의의 하위변인들 간의 상호작용 효과는 수행상의 어려움과 부모의 기대감이 의미 있는 상호작용 효과를 보였다. 셋째, 어머니의 적대적 양육태도에 대한 우울과 완벽주의 하위변인들 간의 상호작용효과는 어머니의 우울감 중 신체적 어려움과 완벽주의의 하위변인인 실수에 대한 염려가 의미 있는 상호작용 효과를 나타내었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 우울한 어머니의 양육태도를 이해하고 이를 개선하는데 있어서 실제적인 실천적 시사점을 제공하고자 한다.

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to closely investigate the relationship between mothers’ depression and parenting attitude since the former is regarded as a main variable affecting psychological adaptation of mothers who rear young children. It is also attempted here to find in depth if perfectionism may play a moderating role in relationship between the two variables. The subjects selected for this aim were 464 mothers of the young children aged from 3 to 5 years and enrolled in the early childhood educational institutions in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and other provincial areas. The principal outcomes from this study could be summed up as follows: First, a total of 4 subvariables turned out to be significant as effective interaction factors between autonomic rearing attitude and such subvariables as depression and perfectionism. Concern for mistakes, criticism of parents, etc. showed different tendency depending on increase of, among others, negative attitude due to depression. As for mothers' difficulties of performance due to depression, concern for mistakes and systematization exercised moderating as well as correlational functions. Second, the interaction between affective rearing attitude of mothers and subvariables of depression and perfectionism produced meaningful interaction effects between difficulties and suspicion of performance as well as according to the study. Third, with regard to hostile rearing attitude, meaningful interaction was discovered between depression as physical difficulties and concern for mistakes as part of perfectionism.
